Dove Lake is at the northern end of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.

Dove Lake Circuit Walk

A superb walk in the national park is the Dove Lake Circuit Walk.  A 2-hour walk of 5.7km, on a well-made track and boardwalk. This is one of our favourite short walks in Tasmania. It is fairly easy walking and takes in the spectacular views towards the peak of Cradle Mountain and covers a variety of terrain for such a relatively short hike.

The track passes through scrubby button grass, the sandy shoreline of Dove Lake and pretty streams gently cascading into the lake. The enchanting area known as the ‘Ballroom Forest’ consists ofmoss-coveredd myrtle beech trees that invite walkers to stay a while and enjoy the atmosphere.

Mount Roland is found near the village of Sheffield on the northern edge of the Great Western Tiers region of Tasmania, Australia.  It is located within the Mount Roland Conservation Area & Regional Reserve a reserve consisting of 7600 hectares surrounding the mountain range. Mount Roland is approximately 1234 metres above sea-level.

Bushwalking Mount Roland

Two well-marked bushwalking tracks can be found today from both Claude Road and Gowrie Park, crossing both plains and the plateau leading to the summit.  Access to part of the mountain can be gained from a track leading from Round Mountain Lookout on the western end of the mountain.

Located near Sheffield, on the edge of the Great Western Tiers region of Tasmania. Looks quite ominous as you approach from Sheffield with its many sheer cliffs. A good day walk that is easy to follow, with a large portion of the walk done across the plateau along to the summit. The path has branches off to the other mountains near by (Mt Van Dyke, Mt Claude), but the Mt Roland track is much better maintained
